We’re in the studio working on our
first project in over twenty years. Among some of the songs we are recording is

Michael
has another song that really touched our hearts the instant we listened to it
the first time. "My brother-in-law, Marty Miracle, who is deaf, asked me a
few months ago why no one has ever written a song about a deaf persons relationship with Christ? I think because the deaf
have their own culture that they are sometimes forgotton by the hearing world, but that doesn't mean that their walk with Christ is any
less important to them." So for those of you who can't hear, or those who
know someone with a hearing impairment, this song is for you. And for all those
talented people who give of their time to sign for Deaf Ministries, THANK YOU!

Many years ago I was at a youth
conference in the mountains and someone played The Secret Place. It really touched me and I am so
proud to include it on this upcoming release. Here is the story behind the song
by the writer ~
The
couple we had invited to our home for dinner arrived a little early and as
Annie conversed with her friend in our kitchen, the husband and I were talking in the living room. I’m
not sure how it happened, but we got on the subject of how
gracious it is of God to love us in spite of our flaws, our failing and especially our resistance to letting Him know what is
really in our hearts. Then he said the words I’ll never forget. “I
have places in my heart even I don’t like to go, much less let God in there.” The proverbial bell rang in my
songwriter’s mind and I politely excused myself. I
quickly went to our bedroom, grabbed a pen and paper and began
feverishly writing the words that were coming. Literally within about ten
minutes I had nearly the entire lyric for The Secret Place on that piece of paper (while being a
rude host, according to Annie). Later on that
evening, after our company left, I put music to the lyric.
But as exciting as it was to have been
able to write the song, there was a sobering
moment yet to be experienced that night. When I felt like the song was finished, I whispered quietly in my heart, “God, thank You for giving me a song for the entire Body of Christ.”
Then I heard that still small voice whisper in my heart, “I didn’t give those words to you for the
church, I gave them to you ... for you.
Until we deal with some things in your own life, you may not sing
this song publicly.” That was not an easy command to
obey but God knew exactly how to motivate me to let Him do some needed
cleansing in my heart. He used a song! I just never thought it would be one
that came through my own hand.

Forgiven is a song that was written by our
friend David Archibeck. We chose to include this track because it fits
perfectly with Larry Gatlin’s song. The runaway went home and, like the
prodigal son, found love and forgiveness both from an earthly parent and his
Heavenly Father.
