As the founder, my responsibilities, other than my vocals, include a little bit of everything. Dad is a retired pastor and I was raised in church from birth. There’s not a time growing up when mem’ries of a piano, organ, guitar, harmonica and even an accordion weren’t in the home and played often … sometimes together. And the different styles that were presented for my evaluation! Growing up, I remember artists like George Beverly Shea, Johnny Mathis, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, Johnny Cash and even Elvis. My brother used to be the organist at Loma Linda University Church. Talk about some high brow taste there!

Today I’m involved behind the scenes with the Music Ministry at our home church. This gives me a chance to let down and spend time with my wife and daughter.

Someone said, “Make sure to mention your favorite scripture!” I’m currently studying Galatians, the book of restoration, but I think my favorite part of the Bible is the protection found in Psalm 91. Looking back over the years and some of the stupid mistakes I’ve made, I can see God’s hand protecting not only my life, but the lives of those around me.

One last question … Where’s my favorite place to eat? The Cracker Barrel – is there anything else?

2BRYANT CAMPBELL
I grew up in a family that was full of singers and some of my earliest memories are sitting in my grandparents church in Glendora, California, listening to my grandfather lead the Bass section and my grandmother singing with the first and second altos. My grandparents were also part of the Claremont Singers and traveled around the world putting on shows. There most memorable journey was when they traveled to the British Isles to perform Beethoven's Ninth Coral Symphony, commonly known as "Ode To Joy", and performed in many churches in England and Scotland.
My father majored in vocals at Citrus Collage and also sings Bass, while my mother, like Grandma, sings Alto. During my teen years my father and I sang Bass together at Northkirk Presbyterian in Alta Loma, California. That was my first taste of performing. During my teen years I became overwhelmed with the world and turned my back on the church. Being that I listened to hard rock, I became ashamed of my singing voice. After all, all great male singers are Tenors or high range Baritones ... nobody wants to listen to a Bass. It was not till my early twenties that I turned my heart back towards Jesus and I got my rear end back into church that I started singing again and I realized that being a Bass is a truly rare gift. This was at Colton First Assembly Of God in California. It was here that I started to perform again, primarily as a special events singer in the various plays and programs that we held each year. I was under the coral direction of Suzy Starr and she really woke me up the joy of singing the part of Bass. I would begin to get frustrated that I could not hit the high notes and Suzy would tell me "just go lower", that became my rally cry as I was the low voice.
I went into full time ministry as a racetrack chaplain for Racers For Christ and Campbell Family Ministries so I stopped singing again. With RFC I led small chapel services for the racers and their families. I wanted to introduce music into the service, but I only had 10 to 15 minutes to work with so I had to perform a very quick service and the music got left out. I was called out of the ministry as I hit my early 30's and I told my self that I would sing again, one day.
This leads to a great day at The Rock Church and World Outreach Center. I came into service early and I saw a good friend of mine. We decided to sit together as our wives were both performing other services in the church. Service started and I began to sing, I kept noticing that my buddy was always looking over at me and I was wondering what was up. Well after the service he tells me that the band Heartwing was having trouble finding a Bass and that I would be perfect for the part. Now my life long dream of performing is being realized. Talk about the Lord putting you in exactly the right place in exactly the right time.
